What is a Google Business Page and why is it important that your business have one?  Whether you are the owner of a small or large business, you know that it is important to have a Google listing.  But you may not know where to start to set one up.

Building your online presence is similar to building a storefront.  A Google Business page helps your business show up in the local search results section of Google.  These results are displayed based on a number of factors and can vary for each user.

Here are some tips:

  1. Set up a Google Account and add your business page. Once you have added your business, address and contact information, you will need to verify it via a postcard.
  2. Google will send you a postcard with a pin number that you will need to enter to verify your listing and prove that you are the business owner.
  3. Once verified, you can make updates like: profile image, cover image, hours of operation, website link and the category of your business. You can also include product image or a tagline.

Setting up a Google Business Page lets your customers leave a review about your company.  Reviews are what help your Google Business page get listed above your competitors.   It also gives potential customers see what others have to say about your products or services.
